begusarai: amidst the agitation programme launched by its begusarai unit for recovery of the abducted local doctor ramashraya singh, the one-day state conference of the indian medical association (ima) here on sunday passed a resolution supporting the agitation and announcing that the doctors of bihar will go on two-day strike on march 14 and 15 if the doctor is not recovered by then.
the conference and its diamond jubilee celebration were organised by the begusarai unit of the ima in the refinery jubilee hall here. the conference, which was attended by around 300 delegates from various parts of the state, passed four resolutions. it resolved to pay special attention to the family planning programme for controlling the population explosion and to make the public aware of the threat of aids and its prevention. except for the scientific session held in the early part of the day, the entire conference was dominated by the discussion on the "atrocities" on doctors and the government''s "apathetic attitude." participants in the conference also took part in the ongoing dharna programme at the collectorate. in the conference, the newly elected president and secretary of the ima state unit, dr raman kumar of darbhanga and dr sahjanand singh of patna respectively, took over the charge formally from its outgoing president and secretary, dr ajay k singh and dr basant kumar respectively. on this occasion, a souvenir was released by dr d k chaudhary while dr p gupta released ima telephone directory. the ima district chief, dr kranti mohan singh, welcomed the delegates and guests while organising secretary dr meera singh proposed a vote of thanks. following the abduction of dr ramashraya singh on march 6, the begusarai district unit of the ima gave a call for an
